Selihot - Writing the Story of Our Community
The Local Jewish Press Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
A Conversation with David Portnoe and Aaron Troodler.
As we prepare to confront the powerful image of the Book of Life into which we will pray to be inscribed, we turn to the chief editors of our two local Jewish papers for insight into how news in our area is covered and disseminated. What are the benefits and challenges of providing these resources focused on the Philadelphia and South Jersey communities? What lies ahead for them in the digital age? And why is it important, now as much as ever to support (and read) them?

Tashlikh is the ritual where we 'cast off' our sins by throwing breadcrumbs into a stream. We'll meet at TBS and take a short walk to The Little Servant Sisters of the Immaculate Conception,1000 Cropwell Road. We'll recite Tashlikh, cast crumbs, and then head back to TBS. Bring your own bread.
We look forward to you joining us for this unique Rosh Hashanah ritual!
After Tashlikh!
Join us at TBS in the tent for a festive Rosh Hashanah dairy meal (featuring pasta and salads) followed by Ask the Clergy! Now is your chance to ask any Judaic question with our clergy, who will debate and respond to questions about topical Jewish issues, halakha, and more.
After dinner, join us for Minha and Ma’ariv, the Afternoon and Evening Services, at 7pm in the Joel A. Rose/Jenofsky Beit Midrash. Livestream available.
